I think it can be the firmware on the DellDisks that ****s things up, but dont know. I tested with an SSD now: copying from SSD attached to onbard SATA -> SSD attached to H200 got me speeds of about 330 MiB/s with 'dd if/dev/zero oftest bs1M count1024' using 'convertfdatasync' and 145 MiB/s using 'oflagdsync', so all is well. What if a disk fails now, will ill be able to rebuild the system from terminal? Why cant i see my disks from the H200 card ? With OpenIndiana, i could not create a pool at all with the disks, cause the disk name where to long. Dell PERC H200 and IBM ServeRAID M1015 are similarly priced on eBay and are confirmed to do what you want. Now i have a ZFS pool up and running, but Freenas cant see the disks, on "view disk" or "view multipath" (i use 2 SAS cabels, so its multipath) but the pool worked, i find that strange.
It works, without flashing the controller to LSI LT firmware. When i Use the H200 controller, then i can create a pool, and find the disks. is this a bug ? or is it a configuration error ?
Thats why i have to use RAID 0, or HW Raid. Then i tested H810, same resault, and then at the end i used Perc 6 Dell H200Įven tho, H800/810 says it´s JBOD then i dont see the disks at all in Freenas or OpenIndiana. I have read a lot of how H800 shall use Raid 0 on all disks, i did test it, but i felt kinda scared off it, if the controller fails so on. Since i got all my pars from Dell, then i also have their RAID controllers. The Dell PERC H200 is a very basic RAID controller that does not have battery-backed cache, and therefore does not let you enable Write Caching within the OS. I dont want to use HW Raid, but SW, and ZFS v28 With a lot of configurations, also tided OpenIndiana, with Napp-it.
